Hello,
I can't connect a cheap USB audio dongle (bought on dealextreme) to my Vbox. Specs:
HW: MBP 15, i7
Host: Lion 10.7.4
Guest: Ubuntu 32 Bit 12.04 LTS
Guest Additions installed
VB Extension Pack installed
I tried to add the dongle to Settings > Port > USB > USB device filters but whenever I try to select it is greyed out.
It used to work on my old MB13 with VB 4.0.X on SL 10.6.8. Can't make it work since I switched to Lion and the MBP.
Any idea how to make it work?
Thanks for your time.
Daniele

Re: USB Audio Dongle not recognized
Hi,
I read your thread and, if I understood correctly, you're not able to make the usb dongle work on your mac.
My Audio USB dongle is perfectly working on my Mac, but I can't select the audio device in the Virtual Box. That's always grayed out no matter what I do.
I also tried to disable the kernel extension for the audio, but still I'm not able to select the usb from the VM.
Looks like the operating system doesn't release the USB device.

Re: USB Audio Dongle not recognized
As you say, Love2ski's thread was about a somewhat different subject, which was direct connection of a device to a guest using simulated USB. If you tell the guest to use the hosts audio then that does not involve the use of simulated USB, regardless of how the device is connected to the host.

Re: USB Audio Dongle not recognized
Strange epilogue.
I added a new global filter and still didn't work.
I plugged in some music into the line-in and it automagically disappeared from the host (i.e. global filter). After that I was able to select the USB from my guest (ubuntu), finally.
Thanks for your time.
