I need help, can't seem to make it work.
I installed virtualbox, made myself a boot cd for windows Me, all fine but when i locate the WinMe-cd or the Windows_Me.iso-file i get the error.
What do i wrong please.

I really would like it to work for my old games that i have.

My os: Windows XP sp3

Please read my HOWTO about making bootable virtual CDs for Windows. The title is: "HOWTO: Make a virtual Windows install CD for a guest." Good luck and let me know how it works out. - Mark.

Precise error messages please. If there is a VM which doesn't work then upload the log file (as a zipped attachment).

Precise error = Missing operating system

First... i installed Windwos_Me as new virtual machine into Virtualbox.
when i got to my cd, i did get errors about "not bootable"
Then... i downloaded the Win_Me cd-iso at allboots. com and putted it on cd.
Started my virtual machine and he did take the cd and installed the "dos" i think, lot of questions about fat, memory, and so.
After that i toke the cd out, placed my own Windows_Me cd and then i get the error: missing operating system.

When i click on f12 at boot and select the cd-rom where the cd is in, then i get the error: "FATAL: Could not read from selected medium! system halted."

Since yesterday i also tryed to make a bootable cd with windows me on it, but did not go, ubcd4win did also have a problem with the Windows_Me cd.
So, in the worst case i think the Windows-cd is corrupt or broken, where do i get a good version of Windows_Me now? or... Win98, or Win2000?

It does not sound as if any of the CDs you have available are original Windows ME setup disks. The disk you got from "allboots" will be a bootable recovery disk, not useful for installing the OS from scratch. Without a proper setup CD you cannot properly install Windows ME. Even if you have an existing WinME system you want to virtualize, the process of virtualization will involve radical changes to hardware, causing WinME to prompt for your setup CD - so I'm afraid it simply isn't practical to go without, unless (with a previous install) you were lucky enough to have copied the setup CD to a hard disk folder.
