Need Helping Running Games on Windows 7 VM

Post by Sean Speezy »

I recently installed Virtual Box on my Mac with a Windows 7 Virtual Machine. I want to use it to play some PC games that are not available for Mac, but I'm having issues getting them to work properly. I either get no sound or no graphics/missing video. And the games seem to run in a tiny window with no ability to go full screen. Can anyone help me please?

There are 2 possibilities:

1) Install guest additions and it may work.

2) Forget it.

VMs are not made for gaming. Nothing else is to say.

I installed Guest Additions, but I was reading somewhere online that there is some setting that has to do with 3D that is involved with it. I'm not sure if that is something separate or if its included in the Guest Additions. Thoughts?

Read the manual how to enable 3d in the guest settings.

Where can I find the manual? (Sorry if I seem like a dimwit, the whole VM concept is rather new to me)

You are probably wasting your time. AS Stefan tried to tell you, vms do not run games well. If you really want to run Windows games on a Mac, use bootcamp. Windows really needs to be running directly on the physical hardware for decent games performance. Virtual machines do not get direct access to the hardware.
