I am trying to connect a Vex microcontroller to my macbook to program it, but when I plug it in and try to connect I get the error "usb device in use by somebody else."
I have set the filter and downloaded the most recent Extension pack but it still give me that error.
Is there anything I can try?

Re: usb in use by somebody else
Wait until the VM has finished starting up before plugging in the device.
You say that you "downloaded the most recent extension pack". I assume that you also installed it.

Re: usb in use by somebody else
I have the 4.1.18 extension pack installed, and waited until the VM finished starting up but still receive the same error.

Re: usb in use by somebody else
I have read reports from other users where they had to release it from the Mac host before it became available to the guest.
Re: usb in use by somebody else
How do I go about releasing it?

As a Mac user you should probably know more about it than me, but If I wanted to find out I would Google Safely remove a usb device from a mac
Re: usb in use by somebody else
The device is not mounted to my computer so I have no idea where to check next.

Re: usb in use by somebody else
That contradicts the first message of this thread: the "someone else" in being "used by someone else" - must be the host.

That is the "bug" and why I have VMware Fusion installed.mpack wrote:That contradicts the first message of this thread: the "someone else" in being "used by someone else" - must be the host.
