Not able to connect to USB external drive on Windows 8 VM

Ok, thanks for the response. I am really trying to get this to work. Ok, I see how to get to extension. The extension pack was already added. I went to the settings, then ports and added my usb external drive. I was able to click on the Seagate Portable under Devices, but I got an error, unable to find(I didn't write down the exact wording because I clicked okay). Then, I tried to open it again, but Seagate portable was greyed out. When I power off windows 8 on virtual box and then click in the settings I can see the usb controller checked, but when I power on Windows 8 it is greyed out again. Please see screen shots. I am once again lost on how to get windows 8 to open usb device. Please help.... Thanks!!
