Bridged networking and multiple adapters (en0/en1)

I am using a WinXP virtual machine using bridged networking since this seems to be the only way for the host to access the guest and the guest to access the Internet.
I defined the bridged network using the en1 (wifi) adapter since I was connected using wifi (airport). That worked fine until I moved to my office and plugged a cable. So I defined a second virtual adapter this time on en0 (cable). I also defined two adapters in the Windows virtual machine and enable one or the other depending on the way the host is connected.
This works well, but is a bit complicated to use: when I want to reach the guest from the host, I need to use a different IP address depending on the interface (en0 or en1) that is currently active.
I found a simpler technique: use a single virtual adapter and switch it dynamically to en0 or en1 while the vm is running. That works well and lets me use the same IP address.
Related to that, I imagine the IP address of the virtual machine will be obtained from the physical DHCP server(s) and so will vary with the network I connect to ?
