Windows 8 guest has extremely slow performance

I installed Windows 8 RP as a guest on my new Retina MacBook Pro. I gave it 50 GB and 2 GB RAM. I installed the Guest Additions. But it is extremely slow! The mouse moves fine, but the UI just can't keep up. Clicking and typing takes SEVERAL seconds if not minutes before it will respond, if it does respond.
Is this just a compatibility issue, meaning we need VB to be updated to fully support Windows 8? Or perhaps I can adjust it to run better?
