VirtualBox 4.1.18 won't install on Windows 7 Host

Hello,

I am trying to install VirtualBox-4.1.18-78361-Win.exe on a Windows 7 64-bit AMD host. I double clicked on the executable and the "want to run" dialog box appeared:

I selected ok, waited a significant amount of time and nothing happened.

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how I can diagnose what the issues is?

I tried to start the program with a -l parameter, but I couldn't find any log file.

You need admin privileges to install VirtualBox, is the only thing I can think of.

I have the same issue Admin rights are used
I had 4.1.16 installed
Upgrade didn't work
Deinstall and new install of actual version didn't work
Lan/wifi doesn't work anymore and install hangs at about 80% of progressbar...

Anyone any hint?

Hi Stephen,

Not sure if you have it but the issue you are describing seems like the defect that occurs when dropbox is running. If you have dropbox running right click on it and hit exit, then try to install again.

TBH - as I said - same problem - I also meant same OS/VBox Version ...
anyway the hint from frobie made my day -stop dropbox restart installatoin - very smooth then ...

I am having the exact same problem as the original poster but I am not running Dropbox.

I have the same problem too ... I don't have Dropbox installed. I have VirtualBox 4.1.16 installed I have tried to install 4.1.18, 4.1.20 and 4.1.22 and they all do the same ... run as admin it is all ok until the "installing this may take several minutes" and then nothing. The "Cancel" installation takes a very long time too. This is on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have tried this on an XP 32 bit machine elsewhere and the install of 4.1.18 over 4.1.16 and 4.1.20 over 4.1.18 both worked fine.
