Can't ping host after 4.1.18 install
Has any one had the problem of the HOST not accepting pings after upgrading to 4.1.18? The host can ping the guests just fine but not the opposite direction. Any suggestions on how to correct it? Also, why does each upgrade insist on changing my Host-Only subnet? I have several VMs, all with static Host-Only network IP Addresses and with most new releases the Host-Only IP of the Host gets changed to something different. This is very frustrating because the Host acts as a server for some licensing on the guests and I always forget to check after an update and then waste time shutting down the guest, reconfiguring the host and restarting the guest....

Re: Can't ping host after 4.1.18 install
Windows 7 firewall blocks pings (ICMP) by default, for security reasons. v4.1.18 will not have changed that either way.

It has always worked in the past until the install of 4.1.18.

Re: Can't ping host after 4.1.18 install
I have encountered the same issue upgrading to 4.1.18. In my case the issue was related to the adapter ipaddress being changed by the upgrade. I use a different subnet and dhcp address range due to conflicts with the standard 192.168.56.x range.
The upgrade does not change the dhcp IP address information but does change the host only adpater ip address from your setting to 192.168.56.1. Once I changed this back to my settings the connectivaty was restored and I was able to ping again.
If the ping was working prior to the upgrade it would continue to work once the adpater ip address is changed.
Due to this issue adding a rule to the firewall did not resolve my issue.
Thanks

Re: Can't ping host after 4.1.18 install
This seems to be a bug or flaw in the upgrade path for VB. Each time I upgrade it changes my Host Only IP address. With the upgrade to 4.1.22 it took me an hour to get it to accept the old IP address. It seemed to be grabbing an IP from my providers DHCP server. I finally thought to disconnect from the internet to get the change accepted. Oracle can't you fix this?
