When I am about to complete installation of a software, XP guest suddenly starts to restarting and keeps doing it with no end. I have successfully installed and used same software just older version on another virtual machine - same XP guest. I did perform driver update suggested somewhere on this forum, but it didn't do any good.
Thanks for any help in advance folks
My system:
- Vista Home Premium 32bit (host),
- Windows XP Professional SP3 (guest.)
- Processor : 2 Duo CPU
- VirtualBox 4.1.16
XP guest keeps restarting when trying to install software

Re: XP guest keeps restarting when trying to install softwar
Turn off the "automatic restart" (after a crash) in My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Startup and recovery settngs button. That should at least allow you to see what the crash is.
Which driver update are you referring to? - when you say something like that it would be nice to have a solid reference, i.e. a link.

Re: XP guest keeps restarting when trying to install softwar
So as I was expecting it happened again. After recreating new machine and installing XP from the beginning as after crash this is the only option it crashed once again.
I do think that the problem might be uncertified drivers of the software that VB doesn't allow to be installed as the crash happens in the end of installation when "Installing Hasp drivers" .
I'm attaching VB.log if just anyone can understand it .
This tme I used "last known good config" to brink it back to life..just no idea how to install that software I need so much.
And this is what I got when used option to send error report to Micrososft"
"Consider BIOS upgrade
Microsoft is unable to determine the exact cause of this error. However, this problem was most likely caused by an error in your computer’s random access memory (RAM). RAM is the main internal storage area the computer uses to run programs and store data.
During the crash analysis, we noticed the basic input/output system (BIOS) version on this computer does not match the specifications for the central processing unit (CPU), also known as a processor, that is installed on your computer. This can occur when a newer processor is installed on an older system board or older BIOS. Using a BIOS that does not support the installed processor can result in Windows system crashes."

Re: XP guest keeps restarting when trying to install softwar
00:00:04.818 Host RAM: 2045MB RAM, available: 513MB
00:00:06.338 RamSize <integer> = 0x000000000c000000 (201 326 592, 192 MB)
Installing with 192MB is not really a good thing and if you look you only have 513MB of available memory. You need to get through the install process for this to be able to work with so little RAM.
Close everything on the host and see if it finishes the install. You should also think about more RAM so you can increase the guest to 512MB or you will not be able to do too much with it.

"Installing HASP drivers"
What device are these drivers for and how is it connected to the guest?

I expect it's a USB dongle? I wouldn't hold out much hope that the software which looks for this will be happy to run in a VM.
