[Solved] VM setting "Turn off the hard drive after" work?

Post by bamim2 »

I have a Windoze 7 VM & I've found that the power settings in the VM are different than the power settings in a "regular" W7 box. First of all the VM has no 'Put the computer to sleep" setting (which is a good thing).

My question is how does the setting "Turn off the hard drive after" setting in the VM affect the hard drive? Does it affect the physical hard drive in the system or does it work on the virtual drive?

If it affects the physical hard drive & the VM setting is set for say, 20 minutes & the host setting is set for Never, what happens?

How do the power settings for the CPU in the VM affect the actual CPU in the host system?

You should never use power saving option is a guest IMHO. Should they actually work all I can see is trouble in your forecast.
