Hi ,
Im having a full backup of a drive in vmdk format and it is of "VIXDISKLIB_DISK_MONOLITHIC_SPARSE" type.
Im able to attach this full backup with a VM in oracle virtualbox. And everything works fine.
And im having a incremental backup for a particular volume in that drive and it is also in vmdk format.
Its of type "VIXDISKLIB_DISK_MONOLITHIC_SPARSE".
Now when i try to make a restore with this im not able to get the drive with the incremented restore.
The steps which i followed ,
1.Attached the full backup with the VM.
2.Detached it.
3.Attached the incremental backup with the VM.
4.When i booted the VM i couldnt see the Volume or even drive in My Computer.

But im able to see that the files are properly written in the incremental backup using the vmware-mount.exe

So i want to know whether Oracle virtualbox support this type of incremental restore.

Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
Siva.

As far as I know - no, that VMware feature is not supported in VirtualBox.

Hi,
Thanks Man..

Is there any other way to restore this vmdk incremental backup.
Any other supporting virtual environment is present to handle these kind of bakup's... just like VMware player or any other one...?

Regards,
Siva.

Sorry, I'm afraid that your description of the format is not familiar to me, though I know the VMDK format quite well otherwise. Perhaps someone will come along who recognizes your description. Or, since it's a VMware controlled format you may have better luck asking about it on the VMware forums.
