I am running Virtualbox on a Windows Vista Host with several Windows XP guests.
I noticed on one guest that right after updating the Virtualbox Guest Additions Windows Update seems to want to update the Windows Update Active X controls. I tested this on another Guest by running Windows update before updating the Virtualbox Guest Additions and then after. Windows Update only seem to want to update the Windows Update Active X controls AFTER updating Virtualbox Guest Additions to 4.1.18...
Anyone else see this? Seems very odd and makes me a bit suspicious...

Suspicious of what? VirtualBox is a hardware simulator. You think the simulation never changes?

Re: 4.1.18 and Windows Update
Probably paranoia but what in the world in a Guest Additions Update could trigger an update to the Windows Update Active X controls.
This is Windows Update itself being updated on the machine, not other software. I can't imagine a change on the Guest machine that would trigger that...

You would have to ask Microsoft for the lowdown on what their software looks for. It obviously saw what it thought was a significant change.
