Increase VDI HD space
Increase VDI HD space
New to Vurtualbox and first time installer.
I did the silly thing and only allocated 10GB to install Windows 7 64-Bit. I've also installed all updates, and am now left with 25MB HD space.
Is there any way to increase the VDI?

http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch08.h ... -modifyvdi
Then increase the primary partition to use the rest of the drive. (disk manager), or use Gparted.

Re: Increase VDI HD space
Yes it is. Example:
will increase the size to 20GB
Note: this will not work if you have snapshots.
Code: Select all
VBoxManage modifyhd "<absolute path including name and extension>" --resize 20480Note: this will not work if you have snapshots.
Re: Increase VDI HD space
Hmm.. Must be doing something wrong.
I've opened Terminal which show the following:
Last login: Wed Jun 20 09:04:14 on ttys000
MacBook-Pro:~ blimpman$
I then past the following:
VBoxManage modifyhd "</Users/blimpman/VirtualBox VMs/VM Window 7/VM Window 7.vdi>" --resize 20480
But get this error message:
Last login: Wed Jun 20 09:04:14 on ttys000

Re: Increase VDI HD space
You are forgetting the quotes " " since there are spaces it will throw a syntax error if they are not there.

Re: Increase VDI HD space
what size did you hope to get with 30300?
1=1.024
1=1.024
Re: Increase VDI HD space
oh... umm I was trying to increase it to 30GB
This is what is shows now:
IDE Controller
IDE Secondary Master (CD/DVD):
VBoxGuestAdditions.iso (49.75 MB)
SATA Controller
SATA Port 0:
VM Window 7.vdi (Normal, 29.59 GB)
BTW Perryg, I should probably start a new post for this, to have windows display the same screen resolution, I need to install additions?

Your instincts are correct. Start a new topic please, with a title that matches your question. After checking user manual and previous answers of course.blimpman wrote:BTW Perryg, I should probably start a new post for this...
Re: Increase VDI HD space
