vboxsf group not created

I have twice installed Mint12KDE 64-bit on win7 64-bit host in VirtualBox 4.1.16. After installing guest additions I have attempted to set up shared folders. In going to add myself to the vboxsf group (using Users and Groups in gnome-system-tools) I find that the vboxsf group has not been created and so I cannot mount shared folders. I have installed other versions of Mint (Gnome) before and have not encountered this problem. I have not yet tried installing in a Linux host. The vboxadditions_4.1.16_78094 virtual disk is shown as mounted and USB sticks mount so I know that the guest additions are operating.

Perhaps this problem is unique to the KDE version. Any suggestions.

Thanks

Just because it shows as mounted does not mean they are installed.
You can look in /var/log and see if there is a vboxadd-install.log and you can use the (host+N) keyboard shortcut to open the session information to see if they are listed as functional.

Thanks, Perryg. Guest additions were indeed not installed. I ran the autorun script and all is well. I was accustomed to the autorun script running when I mounted the guest additions, which did not happen in this case.
