Hello
I have done backup of disk in clonezilla on a eSATA drive. Then I have created virtual guest WIndows Srv 2008R2 x64 and restored the image to the virtual machine. And now the virtual machine is not starting. It just shows a black screen. Here are the commands I used to attache this drive with a backup as a raw disk.

Code: Select all

VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename /clone/VMs/my-server/disc_raw.vmdk -rawdisk /dev/sdc
VBoxManage storageattach "my-server" --storagectl "Kontroler SATA" --port 1 --device 0 --type hdd --medium /clone/VMs/my-server/disc_raw.vmdk
Then when i attached the drive I boot clonezilla ISO and restored a image from /dev/sdc (eSATA drive) to /dev/sda(Vdi virtual drive). Now the virtual drive has all partitions as the original drive.

I also disabled mouting the eSATA drive in fstab, beacuse it is a rawdisk.

What could I do to check what went wrong and what is wrong.

Sorry for bad english I am not native english speaker.

Thank you in advance.

Raw disks are not the appropriate mechanism for this. Look up "VBoxManage convertfromraw" in the manual, use that to convert the dd/CloneZilla image into a VMDK, then build a VM around the VMDK.

Be aware that this will only work if you imaged the whole disk with CloneZilla. Partition images cannot (easily) be made into virtual disks.
