Windows 7 SP1 update fails to install

I have repeatedly tried to install the SP1 update for my Windows 7 guest. I have tried with a clean boot without effect. I have tried the automated repair tools for Windows update. I have tried the fixes on the Microsoft site, but nothing seems to help. The update downloads but fails at the install when it is about 3/4 done.

I am using VirutalBox 4.1.16 with appropriate extensions and Virtualbox guest additions. I tried with a clean boot and I turned off the guest additions.
I have enough space on the drive to install, but am using a dynamic drive, not a static drive set up. I have a Linux host.

Is there something about VirtualBox that is impeding the install? other updates have installed without a problem.

Appreciate any help.

Probably not, as I for one have installed and updated Window 7.

A corrupt datastore might cause this.

Here is a link I have used in the past to fix this error. http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/canno ... dows-7-pc/

You could also try to download the Windows SP1 ISO as a final resort.
You should check the SHA checksum on the download to make sure it is not corrupt after downloading.

Other than that you would need to search the Windows 7 forums for assistance.
