Mac Host, Linux Backtrack 5 (Ubuntu) Guest: Slow DL Speed

After installing Backtrack 5 as Virtual OS in my VirtualBox, everything worked out fine, accept for when I started upgrading apt-get. I got very low download speeds (at first it maxed at 300kB/s but it kept decreasing until it was steady at ~30kB/s). These slow download speeds are also the case when I download files using , so it has nothing to do with apt-get slow mirrors or something like that.
Why am I far below the maximum download speed on my host (OS X)? I have provided a screenshot of my network settings. I am connected via ethernet (UTP cable).
