keyboard cherry usb

Post by hackmac »

I am having problems with my keyboard usb cherry. My system is mac OS X Lion. Virtual box is version 4.1.16 r78904. I have installed Guest aditions and activate usb, but when I run Windows 7 in virtual box if I click in the icon usb, the keyboard shows deactivate, the webcam is activate. Windows 7 uses a keyboard generic but my keyboard have a card reader and I need the card reader. How to activate the cherry keyboard in virtual box?. I have added the keyboard in filters usb but the keyboard appears deactivate when windows 7 is running.
The keyboard is cherry usb smartboard G83-6610.
I need help to solve this.
Thank you for your responses.
Bye.

Is this keyboard also used by the host? If yes then you can't attach it to a virtual USB port. It must remain a virtual PS/2 keyboard.

You misunderstood my previous reply. The guest doesn't need it's own keyboard, and getting one to work anyway might be tricky.

The VM is an application running on the host. How many host applications do you have which need their own keyboard or need to be told what kind of keyboard it is? So why do you think its necessary for VBox? Just do nothing: let the VM defaults do their work until you know better than it. Don't add USB filters for the host keyboard - you will discover that none is needed.

You're probably out of luck. OS X will grab the keyboard, which will prevent VirtualBox from using it. This would very likely work on other platforms but not OS X.
