[Not Solvable] Driver Won't Install on Win7Pro64bit Guest OS

Post by HilltopsGM »

Howdy folks,

I have lost count as to the number of ways I have tried to get this to work.

I am trying to install a driver for a capture card that will receive video from a VCR (yes it is old stuff) via RCA connectors (RED, YELLOW, & WHITE).

The driver I am trying to install on the Guest OS is located here:
http://www.avermedia.com/Support/Downlo ... b=APDriver
It is the Win7 64bit version

It appears to start and then right near the end, the installation window just 'goes away'.

The guest os device manager shows the card with a yellow triangular exclamation mark on it and when you view the properties the code is a (10) and it says it can't start or initiate the card.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get it to install on the Guest OS?

Thanks.

The host is a Win7 Pro 64bit OS
and the driver installs just fine on that os.

The only devices that you can connect directly to the guest & install drivers for are USB and not all of them actually work.

Thanks for the reply Perryg.

That is too bad. It does connect just fine.

Is this a limitation of Virtual Box, or the driver itself?

Thanks for the quick response.

Actually hard to say. Most drivers have no idea what virtual means. That and the way it is presented to the drivers will also cause issues.
