install a driver for your network adapter

Installed virtualbox for the first time (v4.1.16). When IE couldn't display a web page, I clicked "Diagnose Connection Problems" which reported: install a driver for your network adapter. I went to menu item Devices -> Network Adapters, but not sure what to do here. I'm running Lion OS X on MacBookPro.

And the exact guest configuration?
And the guest OS?

Guest configuration:
Windows XP
Base Memory: 1024 MB
Network Adapter: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (NAT)
Is there anything that might be relevant?

Choose "PCnet-FAST III" Nic in the VBOX Guest Settings. XP has a driver for this builtin.

Ok, I selected PCnet-FAST III but I'm still getting the same message: Not Connected. No connections available.
I'm also getting this message: Device driver software was not successfully installed.
I also just noticed that even though the guest OS is set as XP, the vm boots as Windows 7. I'm not sure why that is, but perhaps it's a clue as to why I can't get a network connection?

What is it for a XP? Nlite or something else crappy version? Or the full MS XP.

As far as I know, the only choices for a VirtualBox XP guest are Windows XP, and the 64-bit version.
