Can I use VB with no VT Technology on a laptop?

I got someone who wants to use VB but his laptop doesn't support VT. Can he still use VB?

It would be so nice if you mentioned the host OS. But AFAIK: sure he can, though he can only run 32bit guests - and he'll also be limited by RAM and disk space like everyone else.

Hes on vista. I tried setting him up with ubuntu because its free. He couldn't get the the 64 bit or 32 bit one to work. it was giving him some kernal error about his processor

No help possible without exactly infos. Error messages word by word, the log file. Else there is nothing to say.

Posting logs and error messages is not necessary this time. If the OP is referring to problems installing Ubuntu on the laptop host, then the place to look for support would be the Ubuntu forums, not here.

this is the full error.

This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot – please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU

The message says it all: You need to download a 32 Bit Version of the linux distro. For 64 Bit guests you need the VT feature.

Also i just tried to get him to install 2.1 VB which lets you choose from 32bit and 64 bit but it wont let him choose 32 because his OS is 64bit.

Dont try versions from Fred Flintstone. Use the actual VBOX version 4.1.14.
