VPN connection with virtualbox dev server

Post by unbalanced »

I have a dev server setup on top of VirtualBox 4.1.14 used for web development. My host machine is Win7 and the guest server is Ubuntu 11.10

When working from home i have to use our office VPN connection since the dev server connects to a remote db in our office network.

On my VirtualBox i have 3 network adapters which i setup after reading forums . virtualbox . org / viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42385

1. is a nat
2. is host only
3. is a bridge

i cant seem to make the dev server connect through the VPN and be accessible from the host using www server.
i tried connecting the VPN from the host, and then tried to connect from the guest and then tried putting it on both. none worked.
Where did i go wrong :)

Thanks!!

The connection to VirtualBox seems tenuous. A problem encountered while running VirtualBox is not automatically a VirtualBox problem. Yours sounds like a networking problem.

The difference between NAT, host-only, and bridged networking is described in the user manual.
