Is there any certain thing I should look for or change on the router?

Where should I run wireshark from?

Is there a way to use another network mode that you think might work?

wireshark (formerly ethereal) is a network sniffer which monitors traffic on your network. You can run it on any machine on your LAN.

There in not really any other network config which will allow you to see a vm from a physical machine on the LAN. That is exactly what bridged mode is designed to do. For some odd reason it doesn't work with your particular setup. The only way to find why is to see exactly what is happening on your network. As Perry said there is nothing more we can do from the outside.

Thanks for the help Bill. I'll run Wireshark on my other computer (not my host) tonight and see what it can see when I ping it from one of my VMs.

Thank you all for the help.

I eventually determined that the modem/router combo my ISP gave me is running wireless client isolation which cannot be disabled.

I just attached another wireless router to it and connected to the new wireless router. Problem solved.

...well, I have EXACTLY the same problem with a small difference: all my other boxes CAN ping the host, but CANNOT ping any of the guests.
I already checked the isolation mode (disabled on all my APs) :|

Any idea how to troubleshoot it?

sorry to disturb: I found the solution in the next few minutes.
It was enough to configure the VM Network at least as "Allow VMs" for the "Promiscuous Mode" and the problem was solved.

Why attach this to a three year old thread (especially when it is a different problem)?

If you can ping in one direction but not the other it is almost certainly a firewall problem, probably the guest firewall settings.
