Windows 7 Ultimate x64 "black screen" starting up

Hello,
I don't know what I did. I installed an update or something and now when my VirtualBox VM starts up, I am getting a black screen.
I startup to the Starting Windows screen seemingly ok. It sits there awhile and then all I get is a black screen.
It doesn't seem to matter if I revert to a previous known good stable snapshot. Still black screen.
It's not something in the VM itself? Will try restarting the host system next I suppose (crossing fingers).
