Hi everyone,

Just upgraded to 4.1.14, and the script is missing from the guest additions, anyone face the same problem? Any fix avaliable?

Installing the Window System drivers
Installing X.Org Server 1.11 modules ...done.
Setting up the Window System to use the Guest Additions ...done.
You may need to restart the hal service and the Window System (or just restart
the guest system) to enable the Guest Additions.

What is the host and what is the guest?
Where do you get the VirtualBox install from, IE. the distro or always from VirtualBox.org?

I do have exactly the same issue trying to install VirtualBox guest additions 4.1.14 over 4.1.12, and now with VirtualBox 4.1.16 too.
I personally use host=Windows7, and guest=Fedora14 64bit.
This obliges me to re-install 4.1.12, which guest additions install properly contrary to 4.1.14+
I'm stuck with VirtualBox 4.1.12: no more upgrade possible!
What can we do ?

I found the problem by myself:

Before installing the new guest additions version, you need to remove manually 2 symlinks:
> rm /usr/lib64/VBoxGuestAdditions
> rm /usr/share/VBoxGuestAdditions
The 4.1.14+ versions do not clean them automatically, and they were still pointing to the 4.1.12 version (/opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-4.1.12), which was the previous one installed on my guest.
This did not happen before 4.1.14.

This worked perfectly, thanks a lot.

I had this problem after upgrading to 4.1.16 form 4.1.14

The same happened for my Ubuntu 12.04 x64 when updating the guest additions from 4.1.20 to 4.1.22 or 4.2.

Manually removing the directory /opt/VBoxGuestAdditions-4.1.20/ and also the symlinks /usr/lib/VBoxGuestAdditions and /usr/share/VBoxGuestAdditions enabled me finally to install the 4.2 guest additions successfully.
