New User, something strange happened

Everything was work great, had XP VM running with ZERO problems. I want to switch from Parallels and VB has performed wonderfully.

Then one day about a week ago, I logged on and started my XY_VM. The "association" to the VB program was gone, as was the icon picture. I used MACs get_info and pointed to the VB program. Now when I start the VM, the "VirtualBox Manager" comes up every time. I looked around, but can't stop this dialog box from popping up. The icon on the XP_VM.vbox is still missing, adding it goes away after a reboot. The VDI icon is still good...

I tried removing VirtualBox via the VB uninstall program, rebooted and reinstalled, and still have the issue. Suspect it might be a MACOS problem at this point.

Any advice would be appreciated.

BTW: The fix was...
For missing icon on *.vbox (i.e. not vmstarter in "open with")
- Drilldown the VirtualBox app package and double click on vmstarter.app

That's it...Maybe there is another way, but no-one here posted it.

Well, I see what is causing this problem (even on a new install of the OS)...Looks like rebuilding launch services causes the loss of the "vmstarter" in the "open with" property. The repair is listed above.

Sorry for the slow findings/updates, but I am only looking at this when I have free time or stumble into the situation.
