rare keyboard problem became chronic after update

Two big usability problems.
1) Whenever focus leaves my ubuntu 10.04 virtualbox guest and enters a windows 7 host window and then returns to the virtualbox guest, all keys (qwerty...) become digits in sequence (012345678901234...). The only way discovered (so far) for restoring normal operation is to hit the right control key twice to launch a dialog box, and confirm capture. This used to happen very rarely before, but now it is always necessary to recapture with the double right control. This needs fixing.
2) VirtuaWin (a Windows program implementing multiple desktops, and very valuable to me) used to leave the virtualbox guest window on a single desktop. Since the upgrade the guest window follows around to every desktop, making virtuawin almost useless. This needs fixing too.
