Which version of Windows 7 is required for VirtualBox?

Post by smkilcoyne »

Hello,

I apologize for the novice question, but I am new to VirtualBox.

Which version of Windows 7 are viable for installation on VirtualBox running on Mac OS x Hosts?

I've seen OEM System Builder versions, Full Versions, Etc. Prices vary considerably. I'd like to get the cheapest solution that is proper.

Thank you for any input.

VirtualBox does not require Windows, never mind a particular version. Win7 is supported by guest additions, which is all that matters. If you are asking which version of Windows makes the best guest, I would say that XP makes the best 32bit guest, I guess Win7-64 would be the best 64bit Windows guest. If you are going for cheapness - be very careful if buying on eBay. Those guys have no problem selling you BIOS locked OEM versions, upgrade versions, pirated volume CDs, etc etc. As soon as you try to validate your copy to get updates: trouble.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. For my purposes, I'd say that Win XP, full version is the best choice for me. Ebay is not a good vendor selection place for this purchase.

Thanks, I know what to do.
