USB card reader within an XP guest doesn't start
Hi folks,
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 as host and Windows XP as guest. I have my Win XP running on VirtualBox totally updated, with vboxusers group enabled on my Linux host. Other usb drivers work well on my XP guest.
But when I try to plug my USB card reader, my Win XP recognizes it, but fails to start the device. It works well on XP not virtualized.
It recognizes it as "CCID USB Smart Card Reader", but prints this message when trying to start it:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
I've tried to enable USB filters for the device, but indeed it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? Is it a bug on VirtualBox?
Thanks, Rafael

Try adding your user name (on the host) to the plugdev group. Minimum of log off for permission changes to take effect.

Not if you are in those groups. Some devices still don't work I am afraid. You can place an enhancement request at bugtracker and be sure to provide a guests log file and all the information you can about the device.

Ok, thanks. I'll create an enhancement request for this device. Do you know how I can change my nickname on the virtualbox bugtracker? I haven't find any place for it.
Thanks,
Rafael

If you have never set up an account with bugtracker just use the same one you have here.
If you had registered you would need to send a PM to the administrators to change it.

Re: USB card reader within an XP guest doesn't start
So, how can I send a PM to the administrators to change my nickname? I need to do this to create the entry on the bugtracking system.
Thanks,
Rafael

Re: USB card reader within an XP guest doesn't start
I sent a private message to the administrador named fatbloke to change my nickname. Is it ok or do I have to chose another one?
Thanks,
Rafael

If you want it done sooner I would send one to Frank. fatbloke doesn't come around a lot.

Ok, thanks for the information. I sent a private message to Frank Mehnert but it seems it's not going out from my Outbox to the Sent Messages box. Is it ok?

It will go when Frank next logs in.

The message was sent to Frank, is there a deadline for him to change my nickname at the bugtracking system?
