Hi,

No luck with my first try to get an existing XP VMware image converted to run under virtualbox.

- Host OS is WIN2008 R2 Server (64bit)
- Successfully installed "VirtualBox 4.1.12 for Windows hosts"
- Media Manager was not able to see my existing XP SP3 (32bit) VMware image .vmdk file
- Found some stores about "missing add" button in 4.1.. de-install 4, and installed v3.2.14
- Now Media Manager was able to add & see my .vmdk .. click OK
- Nothing happened I think (is this a long running process?) No .ovf file, nothing to see or start within virtualbox
- What should happen, and what should I see? .. did I miss something I should have done?

First you should stay with the newest version of VirtualBox.
Then read This to see how to install the new guest
When you get to the actual part of creating the HDD select to use an existing image and select your vmdk.
Another warning: make sure you remove the vmware additions before you do this as they are not compatible with VirtualBox.

It all went well now.. however..

The reason I tried to get my VMware image running on VirtualBox is it failed to run on VMware player.

I have the same issue now: fails due to VT-x is not available! Its an older (2005) IBM e366 server and no setting in BIOS to enable VT-x. It used to run ESX, what seems to do things different..

Back at square 1 I'll see what Qemu can do for me.
