I am trying to take a snapshot of a virtual machine and get an error dialog / popup.

VirtualBox - Error
Failed to create a snapshot of the virtual machine AvalancheDev.

Any ideas?

There is indeed enough space on the drive. I am using a 3TB drive that has 2.5TB free. I am using a windows 7 host & windows xp pro x32 for guest os.

There seems not to be enough space for the logfile?!

Are you looking at the right drive? Snapshots are created in the "Snapshots" subfolder of the VM folder. So if your VM folder is on a different drive than your VDI then you could get this.

I must say that I'd be surprised if disk space was the problem - a snapshot is very small when first created.

Was this a live snapshot?, i.e. was the VM running at the time?

I'll wait for sufficient data (e.g. a zipped log file) before speculating further.

My vdi files for primary and snapshots are all on the same drive. I will find the log file, zip and attach. The VM is shut down and am trying to take a snapshot.
