I installed the latest VB (4.1.12) on Mac OS X Lion today. Installing Windows 7, but the default NAT connection appears flaky and really it seems to make the whole virtual W7 unstable. After the Windows 7 installation finishes I can briefly access the internet through IE but after a while it stops working. Also IE8 repeatedly spits out error messages.
* As I was writing this I tried changing to a bridged internet adapter (the airport), also shutting NAT off. Right now I'm able to access internet it seems. Seems ok so far. Maybe this can help someone.
** Actually no real progress here. After booting the network seems to work for a minute or two. Then after awhile Windows Explorer crashes, and with it the system starts being unstable again and the only real cure seems to be reboot. I get the feeling that W7 is not running well in the latest VB - I do run a previous version of VB (4.0.10) on an iMac (also Lion) since last year and don't experience any problem with that. The problems appear on a new Macbook Air that I got yesterday.
*** Went back to VB 4.0.1 on the Macbook Air to but it doesn't help anything so that would rule out VB in a way. Must be something wrong with the Air, like the SSD (?) or the Airport only network but then again I ran the iMac using wifi only for at least half a year. Maybe I'll try Windows XP or something instead. Or my initial settings for the virtual environment are messed up somewhere.
