Hi,
my Win7 partition got small. I used modifyhd to increase the size. The new size is correctly shown in the virtual media manager. But I wonder, why Win7 cannot see the additional space. It still reports the old size of the partition.
Can anybody give me a hint?
Thanks

Use the Windows disk management to extend the original partition to use the newly added space.

And note that you can't enlarge a disk if it uses snapshots.

thanks for your quick answers. It uses snapshots. Hence I think the best way is to create a complete new installation.

Or simply clone the existing VM (cloning the current state only - not the entire snapshot hierarchy), then enlarge the clone. Cloning requires VBox v4.1.x or later.

Re: Win7 does not recognize increased disk image after modif
thanks mpack for the hint. But it took me hours to manage basics like modifyhd because I'm brand-new to VB
So I do not need the challenge again. Somewhere out there might be a good description for cloning or maybe in the manual but for me it is faster to set up the new installation. But thanks again for your help!!!

Re: Win7 does not recognize increased disk image after modif
You right click on the VM and select "Clone". I doubt that reinstalling from scratch is faster than that!

WOW - that's really fast
That is not what I expected. Thanks.
