My Host is windows 7 and my Guest is windows Xp. My windows XP does not detect any USB devices attached to the windows 7 though I installed the latest extension pack and GuestAdditions (4.1.12)

Re: can not detect USB devices on windows XP
Post a zipped log as an attachment.
Note that the extension pack gives the VM the ability to use USB (the GAs are not relevant). However, that doesn't mean it will steal USB devices from the host. You must add filters for the devices you want to use.
Search for previous discussions of USB problems. Internal search does not work for three letter words, so use your favorite search engine instead, with terms "USB site:forums.virtualbox.org".
