Is there a way for an application of the guest operating system to retrieve information on the hardware of the host operating system?

I know that it is in contradiction with virtualization but this is a need for a specific application.

Not directly, no.

The two PCs (host and guest) are or could be networked together. So, if you can come up with a way to interrogate another PC over a network, the guest could do the same.
