Hi,

I'm trying to connect a Windows XP client to Windows Server 2003. I have configured server giving an IP adress automatically to the client. I have a DNS server installed in the Win Server. I connect both with Internal Network adapter. I also tried using bridge and Host-only adapter.
When I type ipconfig in the server I obtain a correct ip: 192.165.3.1. But when I try to obtain an ip in the XP client I don't obtain any ip.

How can I obtain an ip for the xp? The server is configured to give clients ip between 192.165.3.2 and 192.165.3.254.

Which is the guest, which is the host?

I will assume that "XP client" actually means XP guest.

You say "DNS server". Do you mean "DHCP server"? A DNS turns remote URLs into remote IP addresses. A DHCP server assigns dynamic IP addresses to devices on a local LAN.

If you use host mode, the host includes a DHCP server. I suspect you would need to use bridged adapter mode.

Why host don't give to the client an IP between 192.165.3.2 and 192.165.3.254?

Then why are you asking here? If you installed your own DHCP and DNS servers then their failure to work correctly is a standard networking problem, not a VirtualBox problem. In bridged mode the VM is just another PC on the LAN.
