VirtualBox 4.1.10 XP Guest No Audio Device (AC97)
I did a brand new install of Windows XP Professional as a guest with the AC97 sound card set, when I run the newly installed XP there is no sound and no audio device.

The log appears normal - same as my own XP VMs, which all have working AC'97 sound. Have you checked for muted sound inside the guest?

@Justin,
From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.
Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

Re: VirtualBox 4.1.10 XP Guest No Audio Device (AC97)
Run Control Panel, Add Hardware, let it scan for new hardware. A kosher XP setup should have native support for AC97 audio.

Well, the log shows that the VM is working, so I guess you had better contact Microsoft for tech support.
