Webcam or not?

Does the 4.1.10 support usb webcam? I have searched and it seems to be a problem.
I have enabled audio.
I have installed guest additions
I have an uknown device which I am guessing is my usb webcam.
When I try to use it it locks up and i have to shut down guest system.
Is there anything else I can try?
