Can UPnp work through a bridge network?

I have a WinXP guest on a Linux host and a UPnpable router connected to my cable modem. I don't see why a bridged network would have to be specially configured to allow for UPnp traffic, but I thought I'd check here, because I'm having problems. Should it be possible?
