MrAndy1369 did you install this Windows 7 VM from scratch on VirtualBox or did you copy over an existing setup from something like Parallels? I ask because the logs indicate that the VM is stored in "Windows 7 Gaming.hdd" and usually VirtualBox creates VMs in files with a vdi extension.

I installed this from scratch on VirtualBox, but selected the HDD (Parallels) option, just in case I would ever migrate over to Parallels in the future. Do you think this makes a difference?

I don't think that makes a difference. I didn't know it was possible to do that, I've never seen the option when I've created a VM. What I was thinking was that if this was a transfer from a Parallels install there might have been a driver conflict from whatever the Parallels equivalent is of the Guest Additions in VB.

Have you tried enabling Passthrough in the settings? Settings > Storage > IDE Controller > Host Drive (under IDE Controller), or if the host drive is not selected then click the little CD icon in Attributes and choose the host drive from the list.

I think the hd format question was added to the new VM wizard in 4.1.0. Personally I don't like it: IMHO the options are an unnecessary additional chance for the user to make a wrong choice. MrAndy didn't need the disk to be created in hdd format, he could have used clonehd to convert to that format at a later date if he really needed to.

However, the only downside I'm aware of with hdd is that certain features, such as disk resizing and compaction, are not currently supported on that format. Performance and reliability -wise it should be ok.

Ah, I'm still on 4.0.10, so that would explain why I haven't seen it. :)
