None the less, I am experiencing the exact same thing (using the latest version). I tried to install XP pro UK SP3 on a 120GB virtual disk, but after the first reboot...it never started. Tried several times to install...same thing. So I found this thread, changed to VHD instead...and now, I was able to install without any issues.mpack wrote:VMDK is not a filesystem, it's just a container. It makes as much difference as choosing Toshiba vs Western Digital for your physical disk drive - but people will insist on seeing patterns that aren't there.
VDI is the native virtual disk format in VirtualBox - it definitely works.
I guess it DOES need a little more beta testing? Today, when starting the same virtual PC...XP loading window wouldn't show in normal mode. Removed the virtual admtek 2nd netword card (1st virtual card is Intel gigabit)...and then I was able to boot the virtual PC again in a normal fashion.
I have used the exact same MSDN ISO when installing in Virtual PC and on my server's hyper-V...no installation issues what so ever. Sadly, both of Microsoft's solutions lack better graphics, and VirtualBox has that. Only...it seems that every time I download VirtualBox, it has some new issue when installing Windows.
