Hi,
yesterday I installed VirtualBox on my MacBook Pro. I created without any problem a new Virtual Machine, setting as operative system Linux and version Ubuntu. But after the installation procedure, when i started the Virtual Machine, appeared this message: "FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted".
What can i do?

If you actually installed the guest and not just set it up, it sounds like a failed install. Grub missing probably or was not selected to be installed at creation.
Or if you have only gone through the set up and not actually installed it would be a corrupt ISO.

SAME PROBLEM for me: I am getting the same message as I downloaded VirtualBox 4.2.16 for OSX hosts on my iMac (with OS: X 10.6.

and installed it a few hours ago. Checked the Installation instructions, but nothing mentioned. Noting the msg content, I inserted the MS XP Home Disc on my iMac disc drive - which started further action on my iMac, and after it got loaded I noted the instruction at the bottom of message "Click F8 to accept, or ESC to reject". However clicking F8 only started the iTunes Music! I tried several times, even after also first pressing 'Left Command' key, but the XP installation remained undone, and therefore VirtualBox remains unusable. What do I do next to use VB? Please guide me in completing installation and start using to run MS compatible .exe programs. Many thanks in advance. - SARK

You need to configure the VM to use the disk, not run it into your host. Detailed procedure is within the User Manual at the
first Chapter.

Thanks for your guideline - but it is of no help. I followed the instructions, but after XP got loaded, again F8 did nothing to accept the installation - on Windows XP Licensing Agreement page - only started the iTune - just like last time.
Unable to get the VB to work, it remains without any OS since MS XP could not be installed.

that would be correct unless you change the keyboard settings in system preferences to "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys". which comes in handy btw, if you run a large number of guests.

SUCCESS: Thank you - fn+F8 worked, and I've been able to load XP & MS Office, so that VirtualBox will be usable. However, unable to connect to Internet to get these programs Updated, and download AVAST for security. I keep getting ERROR messages, will try resolving this and also load other programs to start using VB - after studying the Instruction Manual carefully. My sincere thanks for help and providing this free program/facility.
NOTE PS: However, I have decided to delete VirtualBox, as have obtained an alternative instead, since I was having so much difficulty in connecting to internet, and with the VB screen size.
