Hi folks,
I am experiencing problems with my MacBook Pro i7 CPU. VB causes a freeze of the host system as described in Ticket #8474. I have decided to deinstall virtual Box and run it on a Mac with a different CPU and it seems to work there.

Problem: After deinstalling VB from my MacBook Pro it is still annoyingly slow and I have no idea how to get it running fast again.
Do you have an idea what will bring the performance back to normal again?

Did you use the Uninstall tool to deinstall VB or did you just throw the VB app in the trash?
When you run Activity Monitor and sort by CPU are there any processes that are using lots of the CPU?
If you check the System Memory in Activity Monitor how much of the RAM is Free or Inactive and how much is Wired or Active?
How much overall RAM do you have in the MacBook Pro?
What version of OS X do you have installed?
Are you running as 32-bit or 64-bit kernel on the MacBook Pro?
What version of VB were you running and what was the guest OS you had installed?
When you installed VB was it to update an existing install or was it virgin?
Did you install the Extension Pack and Guest Additions for that version of VB and your guest?

At the moment you haven't provided enough information to help us provide you with informed help. Without more specifics from you I can only give you the standard advice that Microsoft always gives to Windows users; backup and then reformat the drive and reinstall everything from scratch.
