Wireless Printing using OS X Host/XP Guest

Hi All,

How do I print wirelessly from my guest environment? I'm running Virtual Box v. 4.1.8 on my OS X v. 10.7.3 Intel iMac. I have a wired connection to a black and white HP printer, which I've successfully added as a printer in my Windows XP Guest environment. In addition, I have a Samsung CLX-3170 color printer on my home wireless network, which I can connect to successfully from my Mac OS X. I've assigned a static IP address to the Samsung printer. I'd like to be able to print from my Guest XP environment to my Samsung printer as well. I've installed Apple Bonjour v. 2.0.2 for Windows in my XP Guest environment, but I still don't see the Samsung printer. I've tried a number of methods (from older postings here that date back to 2008) to get the Samsung printer to show up in my guest environment, all to no avail. Can anyone please offer this Luddite some direction as to how to get the Samsung printer to be recognized in the Guest environment? Thank you.

Create network shares for both printers. Creating a network to serve Mac and Windows clients is a standard network problem, VirtualBox doesn't really influence anything: so google for the how to do it.

Thanks for the response. So if I understand you correctly, I need to establish a network between the Windows Guest on my iMac with the iMac HOST itself. Correct? If would be very helpful if you could suggest what, specifically, I might search for on Google to get accurate instructions.

I would just google for "Windows Mac printer network".

The Windows guest would need to be using "host only" or "bridged" networking. You should read chapter 6 of the user manual for information on what these do, and how they work.
