No fullscreen stretch in Open Gl computer games

Greetings,
I run Windows 2000 on VirtualBox 4.1.8. with installed Guest Additions on my Windows 7 host. I stumbled upon difficulties when running Open Gl games. Regardless of which resolution I choose (from 1024x768 to 1600x900) in a game's graphics menu the picture is never stretched from upper to lower border of my widescreen monitor. When I choose resolutions lesser than 1600x900, the picture is there with black space between it and my monitor's rim, and when I choose 1600x900 the picture becomes windowed.
Is it possible to solve this problem, so that the picture can be properly expanded on my monitor?

The guest additions should be installed into the guest,
not into the host. Is that a typo?
Do you have "Auto-resize Guest" enabled? (Host-G)
Does the desktop stretch when you change the VBox guest window size?

I'm not sure I follow what the problem is exactly. Sorry.
Depending on the game, it may or may not be able to fill a widescreen display (e.g older games). VBox does have a "stretch" mode which might be able to help here.

Yes.

When in fullscreen the desktop is fully adapted to my widescreen monitor; when go out of the fullscreen mode it adapts again to the window. The guest OS isn't problematic.

In resolutions less than 1600x900 the gamescreen doesn't fill the upper and lower border. Black borders are over and beneath it. When I go to 1600x900 the game comes out of fullscreen and turns into a window. This all is happening within the guest system. What I want is that the gamescreen fills the monitor.

Where can I access the stretch mode?

Are you sure that this is not some limitation of the game?
Have you enabled 2D and 3D acceleration for the guest?
Given then video enough memory? (32mb is usually good).
Where can I access the stretch mode?
It's actually called "scale" (my mistake) and is detailed in
the documentation
It's available under the "View" menu of the guest's toolbar.
To be honest - it sounds more like a game issue to me.

The program isn't broken; it just doesn't have a good scaling feature.
