Hi All,

First post so be gentle please ...... I have been running WinXP on Virtualbox on my iMac for the past few days and have encountered my first problem that no amount of web browsing can seem to answer :|

Basically when I switch from full screen mode on the VB back to mac OS the VB sits on my dock as a rather nice looking screen logo/image ...... problem is I cannot click on the image to reinstate/use the VB. Its like its stuck on my dock and the only way to get things going again is to force a removal and shut down.

Please help ??? I'm going mad trying to figure this out !!

Hope that makes sense, thanks

Daniel

.....uhmmm having more problems now, can even boot XP now ..... again just sits on the dock and then eventually message appears - Creating process for virtual machine (GUI/Qt) - and nothing happens ....... :?

Trying to stay calm  - I have a two rather important CAD files on the virtual machine that I foolishly didn't replicate anywhere else :| !!

Is it possible to retrieve these without booting XP or is that wishful thinking ??

Even if XP will not boot, you can create a new VM and attach the XP VDI as a 2nd drive in that VM, e.g. a Linux VM with NTFS support. On Windows hosts there are also applications such ISOBuster which can access the contents of a VDI, but I don't know what's available for Mac hosts.
