Can't show menu in Windows 7

Post by 1ndivisible »

I am running Windows 7 using VirtualBox on OSK Lion.

I can find no way of showing the menu so I can install Guest Additions.

From what I have read the following should work, but does not:

1. HOST(Right cmd) + C = enter scale mode
2. HOST(Right Cmd) + Left Arrow + fn = show menu (Note that my Mac has no Home key so Left Arrow + fn is the shortcut)

Please advise as I am stuck.

Thanks in advance.

Did you change the Host key from the default? I'm just asking because normally it's the left Command key on OS X.

Also, are you running the guest in full screen mode? If so, have you tried getting out of it?

And where did you read that switching to scale mode is a way to get at the Devices menu? That's a very confusing suggestion. You should get out of any full screen or scale mode, not into it.

Oh, and have you tried Host+D?

Hi michaln,

Thanks for replying.

Yes I did change the host key but have changed back just to be sure.

I have tried the key combo in Fullscreen, WIndowed and Windowed/Scaled, but no menu shows up. Is there any other way to show it?

What do you mean "no menu shows up" in windowed mode? Isn't there a menu at the top of the screen when the VM runs in a window?

And again, have you tried Host+D? That should mount the Guest Additions ISO in the guest regardless of the display mode.
