[4.1.8-Linux HOST/Win7 GUEST]-Aero Not Working?

Hi,

I am running current VirtualBox 4.1.8
on a LinuxMint 12 KDE 64Bit host
with a Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 7 H.P. 64Bit guest(fully updated).

I installed Windows(R) guest Guest Additions
including Direct3D Support(Experimental)
and rebooted Win 7 guest, but Windows(R) Aero will not work?

I think Aero support was introduced in VirtualBox 4.1.6
but it does not seem to be working in newer 4.1.8 ?

Any help would be appreciated.
I am a cross-platform software developer and need Aero to be working...
Thanks!

Jesse

It does not wirk with all VGA Cards and all Drivers on the Host. What do you have? And do you have 3D enabled in the guest settigs? And how much VGA Ram in the guest settings?

Hi,

Running an nVidia GeForce GTS 450 1GB GDDR5 PCIexpress video card
with current nVidia 280.13 proprietary Linux display drivers
on a LinuxMint 12 KDE 64Bit host OS

I did turn on 2D/3D acceleration in the Windows(R) 7 guest
and allocated 256MB video RAM to it.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Jesse

Also you don't install d3d in safe mode for aero. You install the wddm drivers by selecting 3d and answering *no* to the first question while *not* in safe mode.
See Chapter 4.4.1 Hardware 3D acceleration (OpenGL and Direct3D 8/9) and the section about aero in your VirtualBox users manual.

Graphic Card and Driver are OK, that should be no problem.
