everything done, then I click on the cd in side bar and this window pops up

So did the guest additions install when you told it to proceed?
Usually it opens a terminal and asks for your password.

If the guest additions installed you just need to close this window. Can you use the toggle (host+f) to go in and out of full screen now? Have you rebooted the guest since you installed the guest additions?

This solved my problem as well.
My host lost power and aborted my guest with the same error as the OP.
I'm now up and running again
